Shorefront’s new Legacy Center is the result of several years of work and planing executed by the dedicated Board of Directors and Advisory committee.

The vision came to fruition after the 2005 Board retreat. The end result refocused our near and long-term goals and objectives to benefit the general community and prepare Shorefront for new opportunities.

For several years, Shorefront has performed many of its programming in partnership with Family Focus, a local nonprofit social service center based in Evanston, IL. The center is the former Foster School that was once the center of Evanston’s school desegregation efforts. Now it is the home of Family Focus and multiple other nonprofit entities including the Legacy Center.

The Legacy Center had moved from a 400 square foot shared office space to its own 1,500 square foot museum and research room with additional facility benefits to include a 200 seat theater.
